Squash

Almost everyday I play squash with my friends for around two hours. I really enjoy this daily workout as it helps me to concentrate better when studying and also contributes to my mental and physical fitness. It is one most calorie burning sport!
I also want to get involved in a sporting elective next summer, to pursue more than one field of sport.

Habitat for Humanity recently hosted a primary student's movie night.
This was done to raise funds to purchase material to help build homes for the less fortunate.
My friends and I contributed by planning things such as ticket prices, screening dates, food and drinks for the children and we also went over to a local supermarket to check the prices of this food and drink. On the day itself, we were tasked to look after the needs of the children, and helped to clean up after them!
On a different note, I am planning to take up swimming lessons- Having always been fearful of swimming, I want to motivate myself to take up this new challenge!

Drums

Having previously learned the recorder, I am now going to learn the drums!
Every week on Saturdays, I will go to the Yamaha music center to learn under the guidance of a professional teacher. I enjoy listening to rock music and believe that learning a vital instrument for this genre will help me to further enhance my enjoyment of music.
I am determined to regularly practice and eventually be a knowledgeable drumist!

Creativity

On the 9th of October I will be dancing with my friends for an Indian festival known as 'Diwali'. Being a person who has always been apprehensive of dancing in front of people, I found this to be a good opportunity to gain confidence on the stage and have some fun as well, away from my academics. Having drifted away from my comfort zone, I hope that 2 hours of practice for a whole 2 weeks will help me gain a an enjoyable yet self enhancing experience. I believe that my enjoyment of this activity will encourage me to undertake a similar project in the future.

SERVICE-Making a difference.
My visit to the Mama Papa home in Kalutara helped my friends and myself to make challenged children happy for a evening.I am determined to be able to undertake more visits such as this in the future.Eco Plus an environmental initiative undertaken by the OSC which I am a part of tries to make a difference in environmental sustainability in the school. Our first initiative is to collect disused phones and batteries in order to recycle them.
Habitat for Humanity,a programme to help house the homeless is another initiative where along with my friends I will we helping out with a fundraising movie night.
Finally being a co-captain of the school green house has helped me undertake a role of leadership and team building which is both challenging and exciting!
My aim for the future is to be able to sustain present activities while at the same time undertaking more different yet achievable new ones!
Action=loose calories+fun!
A great way to escape from the world of academics, I enjoy playing squash at least once a week with my friends. My goals for this year are to be able to sustain choice sporting activities to achieve the above formula!
Football on Fridays and the regular game of table tennis also help me to keep trim!
In the future my aims are to try out for saisa football or adventure into new sporting arenas!
CREATIVITY-A way to express myself!
Having submitted my idea for the design of the new PE uniform, and visiting the Colombo art show,I believe I have laid the foundation for quite a creative year ahead.Next I am thinking of learning how to play a musical instrument as i would like to be able to create music similar to what I like to hear.
Being a student of IB visual art further helps me to wander into new creative territory
